Several stories are on my blog and you can go see London go see France on my Flickr but here's the quick recap:
There are certainly drawbacks to Brian's frequent and prolonged travels, but the bonuses do come in handy when we go to Europe. Out of ten nights on this trip, his points paid for six, and we paid for only one airfare, courtesy of miles.
We flew into London, where we spent two nights at the Hilton Waldorf (thank you HiltonHonors points) and met up with friends we've made on past travels (Michelle we met on a Budapest pub crawl, same place we met Gareth. Mike + Dorota we met in Venice in March 06). We spent two very enjoyable evening in pubs with our travel friends.
Then we took the Chunnel to Paris and picked up our (surprise upgraded) Peugeot Cabriolet and drove to Normandy where we spent four nights at an artist's cottage in Honfleur. We loved Honfleur and spent our time eating and sightseeing in Normandy - we visited the incredible Mont St Michel, the American Cemetery and the Bayeux Tapestry.
Next we drove back to Paris and spent four nights at Paris Marriott Hotel Champs Elysees, eating, drinking and shopping our way through Paris.
We met up with SlowTrav friends Pedmar, and Dave + Aralynn, and went to the Chocolate and Zuchini blog birthday party where we met the lovely Clotilde. We also enjoyed a visit to Rungis Market, the largest fresh food market in the world, and shopped for kitchen goodies.
